Polish senior volleyball men’s national team, which last weekend performed in Canada at this year’s first edition of the World League tournament, returns to the country on Tuesday the 22nd of May.

Volleyball World Championships at Wawel
The sport-entertainment hall in Czyżyny will be the 2014 World Championships’ sport hall for the senior men’s volleyball tournament. On Thursday, the contrach between the President of Kraków city, Jacek Majchrowski, and President of the Polish Volleyball Federation, Mirosław Przedpełski. The volleyball World Championships in Poland will be organized for the first time – 24 national teams will participate in the tournament. The host cities for the matches are: Kraków, Łódź, Katowice, Gdańsk - Sopot, Wrocław and Bydgoszcz.

Brazilin stars Giba and Murillo will not perform during the first World League weekend. Since Friday to Sunday the host national team of the country will play in Toronto against Poland, Canada and Finland.

Today we will know the semifinalists of the Olympic Games qualification tournament held in Sofia
After a third day of a senior men’s qualification tournament to the Olympic Games in London, we found out that Finland goes back home. The team lead by new coach of ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle, Daniel Castellani, performed very well during the first match with Italy. In a tie-break the Finns had 11:8 advantage, but soon they lost the match 2:3. It was the beginning of the end for the Suomi volleyball team.

Volleyball players fight for the Olympic Games nomination in Sofia
On Tuesday, the European senior men’s volleyball qualification tournament to the Olympic Games in London has begun in Sofia. Just like at the women’s tournament and the recent competition in Ankara, for only one place to London, in the capital of Bulgaria eight teams will participate, but the winner will only be one. Let’s remind that Poland has already been guaranteed participation in the London Olympic Games.

Minister of Sport and Tourism, Joanna Mucha, visited the volleyball players in Spała
The first performances of this year’s season are already behind our polish senior women’s national team. The qualification tournament to the Olympic Games in London, although not successful (the white-and-reds lost in the final with Turkey and only the winner gained the Olympic Games nomination), showed that polish women’s national team slowly returns on its place in the world hierarchy and in the recognition of the fans. A good game on court, new strategies and solutions, volleyball on a high level – all these facts, despite the failure in Ankara, let us look forward to the future with optimism.

‘USA Today’ predicts bronze medal for the senior men’s national team of Poland
Polish national team will win two gold medals, five silver medals and Wight bronze medals at the Olympic games in London – this is the new forecast of the ‘USA Today’ journal. On the highest places of the ranking are Marta Walczykiewicz (canoeing) and Adrian Zieliński (weightlifting). The American journal predicts bronze medal for the polish senior men’s volleyball players.

WL 2012: national team of Canada with Adam Kamiński
The coach of Canada’s team, Glenn Hoag, announced 25-person composition of the national team for the 23rd edition of the World League matches. The team will play in group B with Poland, Brazil and Finland.

Sebastian Świderski has finished his volleyball career
Sebastian Świderski, who in between the years 1996-2011 played with the polish national team 298 matches decided to finish the career in sport. Two-time Olympic player (2004, 2008) and vice-champion of 2006 decided to terminate the contract with his current club ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle.
